So yesterday was beautiful.
But mostly spending it with my not-so-little-anymore-brother, Joey, and his new wife, Tara, was beautiful.
I’ll be honest in saying that there were some hurt feelings and even my brother and my first adult argument along the way (full disclosure: my brother and I are super close. He lived with P and me for 6 months before the boys were born; he’s come to me first with
most all of his major life decisions for the last 10 years. We’re tight. - and I’m close to to Tara as well. - and I wasn’t asked to stand up in the wedding. -and my heart was/maybe still is a little bit broken not to be spending the day with them versus attending mostly as a guest.).
But in the end, P, H, J, and I shared in our brother and sister-in-law’s, our uncle and aunt’s, our friend’s, joy. Through laughter, and more than a few tears, and four (yes, FOUR) playings of Dirt Road Anthem, it was a night that we’ll always be thankful to have spent in the best company around.
Also: this may be the only couple I know who will be able, someday, to give us a fight for most attractive children in the world. Seriously? Those smiles are perfection!
