-And since we’re on the topic of boobs in suits, here are a couple of other one-pieces that I’ve found to work/almost work (which is enough for me, since actual-actual “work” and not grandma-y seem to be mutually exclusive):
This Gap suit is my #1 pick from the many (MANY) suits I’ve purchased since switching from tankinis to one-pieces after the boys thrashed my bod. If the banding beneath the bust was more snug, it would be pretty close to perfect (another inch or few of fabric in the bust and an underwire would be too much to ask, I fear). Like I’ve said before, I wear a size 14 and have always had a good waistline (which I’ve finally gotten back, thanks to working out. unfortunately, I’m still a bit paunchy from the side view) - this suit really accentuates that. I have the “vamp red” because I knew it would work whether I’m pale or tan, but I’ll be going back for the black one also because it’s THAT flattering! I love a wide-set, wide-strap halter in general for a larger bust, and this one is fantastic.
This one, from Target, is cuter on, and in person, than on the model, I think. I’ll note that I had to order a size up from my regular size, both to accomodate my bust, and to get a less constrictive fit (I think the Spanx-like nature is better in theory than it is in swimwear reality. I’ve found that a looser fit is usually much more appealing visually in swim). Again, the area under the bust in this one could be a lot more snug to fit better, but I know that’s probably just due to my body type, with having a relatively small ribcage and huge hooters. I’ll be taking this one to a seamstress to have that taken in a couple of inches.
I also feel like I should say that I’ve never had much success with J Crew’s “D-Cup” sized swim suits (even when I wore a D/DD cup), as they don’t do much, if anything, to the original cut of the suit to increase the support.
So, being obsessed with all things Michael Kors s/s 2012 (neon! classic lines!) (also see, Calvin Klein’s v. similar line, resort 2011, I believe?), and also being on the hunt for poolwear for Vegas over Memorial Day weekend, this suit is perfection, no?
But, being that it’s out of my price range, considering that I prefer to wear a suit/day on vacation (crazy, I know, but it’s really your “day” outfit when spending it in a pool), I have to say, I LOVE this similarly sport-inspired (and CHEAP!) option from Target!
It looks ROUGH on the model, but is so so so fun on - and that’s coming from my size 14 ass! It’s totally flattering and hourglass-carving.
I will note, though, that I’m debating returning the Target suit because it’s on the small side in the chest. I wear a 36G though, so that’s the case in the vast (VAST!) majority of suits for me. That being said, I’m sure fit would be exactly where I’d find the difference in the MK suit.
Like, an oscillating between reminiscing about “when we were so happy/in love,” and absolutely abhorring my husband, kind of rough time.
The thing about having these kids, though, is that I don’t really get to have a “rough time.” I don’t really get to wallow, or take time for myself, or sort out my thoughts to figure out why, at four months PA (post-affairS), I’m re-angry and re-questioning my commitment to this person.
It’s all smiles, and “Mommy’s gonna get you!” and go-go-go with the boys, and then crashing in exhaustion each evening…which is the best distraction EVAH - but still…
